Having always been a sporting nation, you wont find them hiding in their cottages in Wales.

They are most likely being found drving towards the net ready to score on their opponent. Heres the current sitaution on three different sports that Wales treasures.

  • Ice hockey- One of the more less known sports in the uk, but far more popular in Wales than in England. UK ice hockey does have the Elite league, and the Welsh represents are the Cardiff Devils. Put together in 1986, the Cardiff Devils proceeded to win 7 league titles during the 80s and 90s, but went bust in 2001. A different team with the same name, the Cardiff Devils have only won 2 cups since then, and have yet to win the Elite league and reside 5th in the league, with 48 points, 30 behind leaders the Sheffield Stealers at the time of writing.
  • Football.Having never been to the European Championships and only reaching the World cup championships only once in 1958. Captained by Craig Bellemy, they are level on points with Russia in world cup qualifying with six points from four games. Wales sit at number 65 in the FIFA world football rankings. Cardiff and Swansea city both represent Wales at club level, and both are having good seasons in the Coca-Cola Championships. Cardiff city are trying to push for automation promotin and are currently in 4th, while Swansea city are in 9th, going for a playoff spot. Theres also from North Wales Wrexham, who were in the football league last year, currently in 6th place in the ‘Blue square premier’ division with two games in hand on the teams above, just outside a playoff spot.
  • Rugby Union. Being English, do we have to say much about six nations? Wales share top posistion of the group with Ireland, both teams winning all of their games so far. Ranked fouth in the world in rubgy union, Wales have won the six nations tournament 24 times including last year, only once behind england.
